In this section, the segmentation of the somites are visible in most of the paraxial mesoderm. A continuous subepidermal layer forming dermatome is seen lateral to the somites. This compartment remains unsegmented. at this stage, the ear placode has formed in the sensorial layer of the head epidermis adjacent to the rhombencephalon.
