A: The figure shows a horizontal section through the head. At this stage, the two eye anlagen evaginate from the diencephalon. The thickening of the sensorial layer of the epidermis leads to the formation of the the olfactory placodes in front of the brain, between eye anlagen and the diencephalon.

B: A sagittal section through the head shows the enlargment of the brain ventricle, thickening of the anterior wall of the prosencephalon, the thining of the dorsal roof and the ventral floor of the prosencephalon and the development of the cement glands from the ectoderm.
