Pemphigus vulgaris antigen (desmoglein 3; dsg3)

 Normal at birth
 Loss of weight by 8-10 days after birth
 Gross growth retardation by day 18
 Erosions histologically similair to those seen in pemphigus Vulgaris in the oropharynx (suprabasilar acantholysis and tombstoning of basal cells, separation of desmosomes)
 Crusting and Suprabasilar acantholysis in traumatized skin
 Hair loss at weaning identical to that seen in mouse mutant balding (bal)
