MICROSCPIC FEATURES

EPITHELIUM

  • Cysts lined by papillary proliferations of bilayered oncocytic epithelium
  • Inner layer:
  • Tall columnar epithelium
  • Finely granular and eosinophilic cytoplasm due to presence of mitochondria
  • Apocrine secretions
  • Cilia
  • Outer layer:
  • Oncocytic traiangular and occasionally fusiform basaloid cells
  • Cysts contain eosinophilic cellular debris, laminated bodies resembling corpora amylacea
