CLINICAL FEATURES

  • Most common malignant salivary gland tumor
  • Occurs both in major and minor salivary glands
  • History of ionizing radiation
  • Occurs in adults (30-70)
  • Occurs more often in women than men (1.5:1)
  • Occurs as a solitary nodule
  • Painless
  • Tenderness or pain
  • Trismus
  • Facial paralysis
  • Drainage from ear
  • Dysphagia
  • Numbness of teeth in tumors close to teeth
  • Ulceration or hemorrhage from minor salivary gland tumors
