Grant Resources/Grant Writing/Manuscript Writing
Each scientist is obligated to perform two essential functions. First and most important to the development of any research idea is securing an appropriate amount of funding that can support the work. This requires grant craftsmanship. Unfortunately, scientists do not receive formal training for writing effective and persuasive grants. Each person, through trial and error, attempts to learn to write grants that get funded.
Obviously, the most important elements of each grant are the hypothesis, published and unpublished evidence in support of the hypothesis as well as a well prepared experimental design. However, presentation of the hypothesis in a persuasive and clear manner requires years of experience. Young investigators, very often, find that they have to invest an inordinate amount of time in order to write a compelling grant application that leads to the enthusiasm of the reviewers and funding.
Now, Frontiers in Bioscience is offering the services of professional grant writers to help scientists launch their careers by preparing well crafted grants. Depending on the interest of the investigator, the staff of FBS can prepare an entire grant or perform editing, grammar and spell checking, make necessary modifications and fill out the necessary forms. The final grant application, along with the necessary number of copies, will be printed, copied and mailed to the investigator, or upon request, will be mailed directly to the granting agency before the deadline of the grant. Should there be a need for color printing, pages with color figures or text will be printed in color. The investigator, as part of the service, will receive the booklet of "Tips and Techniques for Professional Grant Writing" and the necessary NIH forms in digital format, ready for printing.
Frontiers in Bioscience, also provides a list of granting agencies, that have an interest in a given grant. Please fill out the necessary forms and then contact the editorial office.
After the necessary funding has been secured and data are generated, investigator reports the findings to the public by writing and submitting a manuscript to a relevant journal for peer review. Obviously, data that are novel, well designed and executed and important are likely to easily pass the peer review process and get published. However, it is required that the data are clearly presented in a professionally prepared manuscript. FBS, now offers the expertise of its staff with years of experience in manuscript writing, to scientists. The professional staff of FBS will closely work with the scientist until the final product is a well written manuscript free of errors. These manuscripts will be formatted according to the guideline of the journal to which the authors wish to send their manuscript and will be mailed, upon request, to the editorial office of the chosen journal.
Staff of Frontiers in Bioscience can prepare digital or printed, color or gray scale, figures for inclusion in grants and manuscripts. The interested individuals can contact the editorial office of FBS for further details. The cost of service will be determined after careful analysis of request of the investigator.
