We would like to express gratitude to Dr. Robert Mahley for his support and encouragement of our work on transgenic rabbits. We also are grateful for the contributions of Dr. Harshini deSilva in helping to establish the technology in our laboratory and to Dr. David Sanan, Dr. Fred Cornhill, Dale Newland, Kim Nguyen, Jennifer Murata, and Ed Herderick for their help on the analysis of lesions. We thank Ricky Quan and Jean Wang for help with rabbit surgery and procedures. Thanks also are extended to Drs. Tom Innerarity, André Bensadoun, Katherine Knight, and John Krieder for help and advice. We are grateful for the expert assistance of Drs. Joe Spinelli, Jan Wyrick, and Dan Lau and the staff of the SFGH/UCSF Animal Care Facility. Our research was supported in part by the J. David Gladstone Institutes and by NHLBI grant #HL 51588.
